Store and account region

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China App Store. The apps and purchase options shown in the App Store depend on the country or region associated with the Apple ID used for Media & Purchases. Your device language, physical location and store region are separate settings. Changing your system language to English does not change the store linked to your account.

The button on this page links to Shadowrocket’s US App Store product page. In the link, us identifies the storefront; it does not change your account’s store region. If the App Store says the app is unavailable in your region, check your account details rather than repeatedly searching for the app or changing in-app settings. Connection modes and configuration files have no effect on App Store purchases before you get the app.

Check your country or region

Open Settings on your device, tap your Apple ID account at the top, then go to Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. You may be asked to verify your identity. Check the current region before deciding whether to change it. The account used for store purchases may differ from the one used for other services on your device, so check the account shown under Media & Purchases.

If you need to change your region, use the Country/Region page in Settings. Follow the on-screen steps and review any conditions related to your account balance, active subscriptions, payment method and Family Sharing settings. Whether you can change regions depends on your account status and Apple’s current requirements. These steps do not mean every account can change regions immediately, and they do not replace the eligibility information shown by the system.

After confirming your region, reopen the App Store product page from this page and verify the app name, developer and app ID. Check the price or purchase status only on the correct product page. If the store still says the app is unavailable, keep the message and check your account status. Availability is not guaranteed for every region or account.

Before you buy

Identify the genuine app: check three details, not just the name

Shadowrocket is also commonly called “Shadowrocket” in Chinese-language contexts. The nickname can help identify the app, but it does not prove the product’s identity. Search results may include apps with similar names, similar icons or explanatory text. Don’t decide what to buy based only on a word in the name or its position in search results. Verify these three details on the product page.

Official app icon
A rocket outlined in blue and purple on a white background, matching the official icon in this site’s header.
App ID
932747118; the product page URL contains id932747118.

First, open the product details and check the developer name. The full name is easier to verify character by character than an impression of the icon. A similar keyword in another product’s name does not make it the same app. Next, compare the official icon’s background and graphic details. Use the icon as a supporting clue, and verify it alongside the developer name.

Finally, check the app ID in the product link. The number 932747118 identifies the app; it is neither a version number nor a purchase order number. Storefront language and prices may vary, but the app ID should match. All App Store links on this site point to this product page. Before buying, confirm the details on the page that actually opens in the App Store.

Once all three details match, check whether the purchase button shows a price, an option to get the app again or an Open button. If a price appears and you believe you’ve already purchased it, check your account and purchase history first. Verifying the app confirms that it’s the right product; checking purchased items confirms whether your current account is eligible to get it. One check does not replace the other.

Device information

iPhone: getting the app, opening it and granting permission

On your iPhone, open the product page using the App Store button on this page. After verifying the app, follow the App Store prompts to buy or get it again. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements, and check compatibility on the device you’re using rather than assuming another device’s result applies to your iPhone. The App Store handles payment, identity verification and download progress.

After the purchase is complete, wait for the download and installation to finish, then open Shadowrocket from the Home Screen. If the app opens, installation is complete. Establishing the connection you expect also depends on your own subscription or server details, selected configuration and current network. Buying the app does not automatically provide server details.

Import your details before reviewing system permission

For your first setup, use the setup guide to check the list on Home and add your own details with Add Server or the relevant import option. Before entering anything, make sure the protocol type and required fields come from service details you already have. Don’t enter your App Store account, purchase credentials or payment details in server fields. Your app purchase account and connection configuration serve different purposes.

The first time you start a connection, the system may ask you to approve adding a VPN configuration. This is part of how the device manages network configurations and may require your device passcode or identity verification. Make sure the request comes from the Shadowrocket app you’re using, then follow the device prompt to decide whether to allow it. This is separate from App Store purchase verification.

If a purchase is complete but the download remains pending, check for App Store payment or account messages, then check available storage and your network connection. If the app opens but webpages won’t load, troubleshoot the in-app configuration and connection instead. Distinguishing between “can’t get the app” and “can’t access sites after connecting” helps avoid changing unrelated settings.

Device information

iPad: the same purchase account and device compatibility

Shadowrocket supports universal purchase for iPhone and iPad. If you bought it on iPhone, use the original purchase Apple ID for Media & Purchases on your iPad, then check purchased items to get the app again. Refer to the App Store page for universal purchase availability and purchase restoration eligibility. If your iPad still asks you to pay, check the account before confirming another purchase.

Refer to the App Store page for iPad system requirements. Screen size and device orientation can affect page layout, list width and how information appears, so interpret tutorial directions in the context of the interface you see. Identify labels such as Home, Config and Settings as they appear in the app; a button’s location on another device may differ.

Universal purchase does not mean both devices have the same local configuration. After installing Shadowrocket on iPad, check whether your own subscription or server details appear in the list, verify the active Config, then test the connection. Check what’s actually shown on your iPad to see whether existing configuration has been restored. If it hasn’t, import the information you saved.

Check compatibility on other Apple devices

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page also lists Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision. To use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, open the same product page on that device and check compatibility, purchase and availability. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements, universal purchase availability and device compatibility. Don’t assume that a purchase shown on iPhone or iPad will have the same result on every device.

The steps on this page focus on iPhone and iPad. Input methods, permission prompts and interface layouts may differ on other devices, so follow the app and system prompts for the device you’re using. Before checking purchase eligibility, verify the original purchase account and the same app ID to avoid confusion caused by opening a different product.

Purchased items

New device or reinstall: find your original purchase

After getting a new device or deleting the app, use the original purchase Apple ID to find Shadowrocket in App Store purchased items. If you’re eligible to restore the purchase, you can download it again without paying again. The key is to use the account that made the original purchase, not simply to check that a new device is signed in to an Apple ID.

  1. Open the App Store, go to your account page and confirm which Apple ID is being used for purchases.
  2. Open Purchased. If the system first shows app-related categories, follow the current page to the list of apps you’ve purchased.
  3. Find Shadowrocket, verify the developer and app ID, then use the option to get it again.
  4. After installation, open the app, check your local configuration and import your own subscription or server details.

The layout of account pages may change between system versions, so follow the labels shown on your device. If you can’t find the record, first check that you’re using the original purchase account, then look for the transaction in your purchase history. App search results and your personal purchase history are separate places. Not finding the app in search does not mean the purchase record is gone.

If a price appears, pause before confirming

If you believe you’ve already purchased the app but the product page still shows a price, don’t confirm payment immediately. Check whether you bought it using another account, whether the current storefront matches the original purchase record, and whether the store shows a region or eligibility message. A change in account region may affect the app’s availability and how the option to get it again appears. Follow the App Store prompts.

For eligibility through Family Sharing, refer to what the product page and Family Sharing settings show for your account. A family member’s purchase record is different from your own direct purchase record. First confirm which basis applies to your access, then check the relevant option. Eligibility shown for one Family Sharing setup does not necessarily apply to every account.

After restoring the app, check a configuration you recognize and run a basic test before making further rule changes. If the app opens normally, troubleshoot any remaining issues in this order: configuration, permissions, then network. Buying the app again won’t resolve those issues. For step-by-step instructions, see how to restore a purchase.

What the purchase covers

Price and one-time purchase: the app and connection service are separate

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app sold as a one-time purchase through the App Store. The US reference price is $2.99; other storefronts show local currency. The final amount is the one shown on the purchase confirmation screen. This reference price explains the one-time purchase model; it does not replace the store’s checkout price or guarantee the same amount across storefronts or over time.

A one-time purchase covers the app; it does not mean you pay this site a monthly fee to use it. The Apple ID used for the transaction manages the purchase record, so check the original purchase before switching devices, reinstalling or getting the app on another eligible device. Confirming the account before payment can make it easier to find the app later.

A one-time app purchase ≠ a connection plan. The app reads and uses configuration provided by the user. Check the validity period, credentials and availability of any existing service separately. Even after successfully purchasing the app, missing or incorrect details—or a change in the status of an existing service—must be checked with the relevant source. Buying the app again is no substitute for checking your configuration.

App updates are managed through the App Store. Turn on app updates in your device settings or check the App Store for available updates. System requirements and compatibility information may change, so refer to the App Store page before proceeding. This page does not list fixed version numbers or release dates.

After purchasing, follow this order: import details you already have → check Global Routing → start the connection → verify access. The app’s configuration, proxy and direct-connection modes correspond to Config, Proxy and Direct. Choose the option that fits your configuration. For step-by-step help, see the setup guide; for rule syntax, see the configuration reference.

Purchase FAQs

Common questions about finding, getting and restoring the app

Why can’t I find Shadowrocket on the App Store?

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China App Store. Check the country or region for the Apple ID used for Media & Purchases, then open the product page using the App Store button on this page. The “us” in the link does not change your account’s store region. Purchase availability depends on what the store shows for your account.

What if the product page opens but the download won’t complete?

Note the exact App Store message, then check your account region, payment status, device compatibility, available storage and network connection. If the app is marked as purchased, look for it in that account’s purchased items first. A store download issue is not an in-app configuration issue.

Do I have to pay again when I get a new iPhone or reinstall the app?

Use the Apple ID that made the original purchase to find Shadowrocket in the App Store account’s purchased items. If you’re eligible to restore the purchase, you can download it again without paying again. Restoring the purchase does not restore local configuration; after installation, you’ll still need to import your own subscription or server details.

If I bought it on iPhone, can I install it on iPad too?

Shadowrocket is available for both iPhone and iPad. On your iPad, use the Apple ID that made the purchase for Media & Purchases, then find the app in purchased items. Check the App Store page for system requirements, universal purchase availability and purchase restoration eligibility.

How can I check compatibility with Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision?

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision. Check that page on the device you plan to use. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements, universal purchase availability and compatibility.

The app opens in English. Where should I start?

This manual keeps the app’s interface labels in their original form. Start by checking the list on Home, use Add Server to add server details you already have, then check Global Routing. For your first setup, follow the guide to import your details, choose a mode and verify the connection.

Already got the app? Continue with the setup guide. For connection or rule issues, see Troubleshooting.
